“I love playing outside in the summertime,” says Barenaked Ladies frontman Ed Robertson. “To travel and hang around with a bunch of bands, and get a chance to do some collaboration is part of the magic of a summer tour.” The tour’s ominous title is a nod to what could be a potentially dreadful economy for live music, and superstitions about the end of the world. “I’m a man of science, and therefore put zero stock in all of the disastrous predictions about the year 2012,” says Robertson. “But just in case, I think everybody should come out and see one last great summer concert tour! It can’t hurt, right? Here’s hoping the Mayans just got tired of chiseling!”
Blues Traveler became MTV staples with the release of their 1994 album, “four,” which included the hits “Run-Around” and “Hook.” The band released “North Hollywood Shootout” in 2008.
Nineties alt-rockers Cracker is best known for their hits “Low” and “Euro-Trash Girl.”
After a decade of mainstream success in their native Canada, the Barenaked Ladies finally hit big in America with their fifth album, Stunt, and its #1 smash, “One Week.” A deliberately silly hybrid of pop and “rap,” the song and its accompanying video were unavoidable during the summer of 1998.
