stingpeterThose who’ve dreamed of seeing two of the biggest rock stars of the Eighties together on stage are in luck: Sting and Peter Gabriel are going on a joint tour with a stop at Nikon at Jones Beach on June 24!.
Ensuring that the long-prophesied King Of Suburban Dads will have his loyal troubadours together and accounted for whenever he finally emerges, penny loafers gliding gently over his majestically well-cropped lawn, Perhaps tearing a page from Billy Joel and Elton John’s storied years on the road, the two English singer-songwriters have announced what they’re calling “The Rock Paper Scissors Tour”.  tickets click here

“We will start together,” Sting explains in video announcing the tour. “We’ll do two songs together, and then we’ll choose who will do a set on their own — 15, 20 minutes — and then we’ll come together again.” That sounds economical, huh? Expect to hear lots of hits, as Sting contends, “People want to hear hits. I’ve never shied away from hits.” So, if you’re jonesing to hear “Wrapped Around Your Finger” and “Sledgehammer” in this same night, then start saving up those dollars because the tickets are on sale now.

While anouncing the news promising to “meld their bands to explore each other’s most celebrated hits,” in what sounds like some sort of dangerous adult contemporary alchemy.. Sting seemed as excited as Sting gets, writing in the press release for the tour that, “I’m very happy that we’re taking the chance to experiment this way. I think people will be intrigued, I certainly am.” (Gabriel, meanwhile, should probably start exercising and limbering himself up, because once Sting is intrigued by something, it usually goes on for hours at a time.)
