Get ready for a big night of throwback hits with REO Speedwagon, Styx and Loverboy. The three bands are going on The Live and UnZoomed tour.. “I can’t think of a better way of touring the USA next year than with good friends we’ve known for years and performed with on many a stage,” said Tommy Shaw of Styx. “What a great night of music this will be!”

“Tommy and I have done a number of Zoom performances together during the pandemic, and REO and Styx are ready to go get UnZoomed, and out on the road for our fifth U.S. tour together,” REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin said. “Add our great friends Mike Reno and the Loverboy guys, and I am totally psyched. If I wasn’t performing in it, I would totally come out to see this show.”

“Three years ago, none of us knew what Zoom was,” Styx's Lawrence Gowan said with a laugh in an exclusive interview with UCR. “It was just a word I remember using as a kid about a car that’s going fast. I got a call from the office saying, ‘We’re going to do a Zoom call’ and I went, ‘What the hell is that?’”
A humorous video announcing the tour, which you can watch below, finds Styx’s Tommy Shaw and REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin catching up on their activities away from the road. Loverboy’s Mike Reno intermittently joins the conversation, in a fashion that feels very much like “zoombombing.”

Cronin mentioned the upcoming dates are “very special,” pointing to a 20-year touring relationship shared by REO and Styx. “You throw Loverboy in, and that just brings it over the top.” Echoing Cronin’s comments, Reno said in a separate conversation that he’s thrilled to mount Loverboy’s first full tour since the pandemic began. “We’re so ready to get back on the road. It’s going to be a blast.” The three groups come armed with an impressive arsenal of classic-rock favorites, but also have current projects as well. Styx will continue to highlight material from Crash of the Crown, their 2021 studio album. Reno says Loverboy has new music in the works, while Cronin is hoping to have his much-discussed memoir out to coincide with the tour.

This could be the greatest classic rock package tour of 2022.. If you're looking to party like it's 1981, this might be the show for you.
1970s and '80s album-rock stalwarts REO Speedwagon and Styx bring their "Live & UnZoomed" tour to Jones Beach. Although Styx has new music, count on a show filled with the songs on heavy rotation on Milwaukee's oldies radio, from "Ridin' the Storm Out" and "Keep On Loving You" (REO) to "Babe" and "Come Sail Away" (Styx)... For good measure, Loverboy — of "Working for the Weekend," "The Kid Is Hot Tonite" and many other radio hits — is also on the bill.
